The Adult Passenger Type

Adult passengers receive the base, undiscounted rail fare available at the time of booking a reservation.

Passengers under 13 as Adults

You should classify a child passenger under the age of 13 as an "Adult" in the following circumstance:

Any children 2 - 12 years of age and/or infants (under 2) who are traveling with an adult 18 or older and who exceed a 1:1 child/infant to adult ratio. For example:

  • If one adult is traveling: One child may travel on discounted fares; additional children traveling with one adult should each be classified as an "Adult" for the purpose of determining rail fare.
  • If two adults are traveling: Two children may travel on discounted fares; additional children traveling with two adults should each be classified as an "Adult" for the purpose of determining rail fare.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by at least one passenger 18 or older even if they've been classified as an "Adult" for booking purposes.
